Substance By Joe Gresham July 17, 2005 The current "buzz" is all about who will be selected as the next Supreme Court justice. No matter what "so called conservative" message board, newsgroup or website you visit, rest assured, you'll find plenty to read about on that very subject. It seems the people really feel it matters who is selected, confirmed and appointed to the bench. They think it will set the course of American freedom, the people are wrong. To start with Mr. Bush is no conservative, the only thing he wants to conserve is dictatorial powers, as a matter of fact, he wants to expand them. Bush claims to be a Christian conservative, and yet his actions [1] dispute that claim. "A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." Mat 7: 18 20 He does not bear the fruit, he lacks the substance. The essence is substance. Even supposing that Mr. Bush were to select a true conservative for the bench, (which he won't) he cannot be confirmed. The partisan activist politicians won't allow a decent man of substance to be appointed. The politicians lack the substance to abide by their oath of office. Their duty is not to preempt any potential voting that they might disagree with, but to verify that the candidate meets the requirements, or has the substance required of the position. Which means, does he have the knowledge of the Constitution and temperament to make decisions based solely upon the original intent of the Constitution, separate from his personal biases? That is the substance required of any proper Justice or Judge in any court. The Constitution does have substance, it has clearly defined principles of what is and is not acceptable, the problem today is that the substance deprived judiciary and their lackeys continue to promote the idea, that it is a "living document", in other words it doesn't mean today what it did yesterday, that it is constantly subject to "re-interpretation". Anyone who calls the Constitution a "living document" is my enemy, and should be yours as well. Until, the proper substance is viewed as the sole requirement for Judges, we can only expect judicial activism. Until proper substance is the basis for the election of representatives, we can only expect political activism and pandering to special interest groups. Until we insist on substance as the prerequisite for the occupant of the White House and all "public servants", we can only expect increasing encroachments on our Liberty, increased taxation, increased perversion of all types and an ever increasing police state. This same concept applies also to local and state government, from your local school board to the Governor's mansion This element called substance, is crucial in every area of life and government, and it's one that is increasingly scarce. I have already shown how it is needed in government, but the truth is, that it is just as vital in our personal lives, just as well. When a young (or old) person is seeking employment, is it not prudent for the would be employer to select an applicant who possesses the substance to show up when scheduled? Or to handle company funds honestly? Or to dress, speak and act in a manner that is a credit to the company, not a degradation to it? Of course the company also, should have the substance to treat their employees in a like manner . When dating and the time comes for considering someone as a potential spouse, substance is probably the one most critical issue. Is he or she honest, are they prone to violence? Do they treat you and others with respect? Are they egotistical, is "me, myself and I" their favorite topics? Are they considerate, are you and your concerns and issues important to them? Do they have basic "convictions" about right and wrong, that are unwavering? These are all part of substance. These qualities, or this substance is far more important than any personal desires for a mate, they are absolutely imperative a bare bones minimum, if you will. The same applies to child rearing, substance is all important. Honesty and integrity must be instilled at an early age, and reinforced throughout a child's raising. Does your child see you attend Church regularly, and insist on their attending it as well, or do you look for excuses not to go? If the examples the child sees are lacking in substance, that is what they will emulate. Disrespect, vulgarity, dishonesty and other negative behaviors by parents and other influential people will negate any attempt to raise a child of substance. We are, to a great extent, the product of our environments, and our rearing. Wealth or poverty are not the determining factors, substance is. "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Prov 22:6 The redemptive powers of the Lord are nothing to joke about, and I am not discounting them at all. The Lord can and does drastically change people, but barring divine intervention, if a person does not have substance, he or she will never change! Bill Clinton was always morally bankrupt, it didn't just suddenly beset him when Monica entered the picture. Abraham Lincoln was always a tyrant, even before he waged his unconstitutional and criminal war against the South. It simply had not yet surfaced. What do both of these depraved examples have in common? They both lacked substance. The one most vital element in government, life, love and all other relationships is substance, and one of the most scarce, these days. "Our" government sure lacks it, do you? Maybe you need some time on your knees, because if you're old enough to read this, and don't have it, you are not going to "develop" it, go to the source. Notes [1] President Bush appoints open sodomites to high office. President Bush supports sodomite civil unions. President Bush supports "exceptions" to a ban on child-murder-by-abortion. President Bush funds selected surgical abortions via Medicaid. President Bush funds chemical abortions via Title X and Medicaid. President Bush funds birth control for unmarried adolescents to fornicate via Title X & Medicaid. President Bush funds Planned Parenthood with over $100 MILLION per year via Title X & Medicaid. President Bush calls Islam a "great religion". President Bush celebrates Ramadan in the White House. President Bush has falsely stated that Christians and Muslims worship the same God / god. Scriptures say A Double-Minded man(or woman) is unstable in ALL their ways.
