A Question of Knowledge By SIP of Kentucky member Denny Lee Lacy The question is one of knowledge. Do you understand the history of our government and right of free people to remove themselves from a government that doesn't represent them? The constitution states that government must be based on the CONSENT of the governed. When that consent is not given, then that government has no right or authority to exercise any control over that people. The South exercised that right - not one Confederate government official was ever tried (with the exception of the commandant of the prisoner of war camp). WHY? Because the federal government KNEW it would lose the case and its whole argument for the war would have been exposed. Also, we of the Southern states that seceded, have NEVER as a free people voted to rescind our removal from the North. We are an occupied people. NOT a people filled with hate for blacks, or in support of slavery of any kind. The Southern leaders knew that slavery was dead - it was self-determination that was at stake. Many seem to be under the mistaken impression that Southerners are living in a delusional world of the past. The struggle of the South is a struggle that goes on. It has been this way since the foundation of this country. There WERE two groups who held opposing views: the Hamilton Group (The "Federalists," who believed in a strong central government that ignored the rights set forth in the Bill of Rights - giving free reign for those in power to impose its will on the people through taxes, etc.) and the Jefferson Group (The "Anti-Federalists," who feared a strong central government and all the corruption that it brings and who favored a group of states that would say no, with the power to back it up.) This notion is the basis of the checks and balance system that is no longer in effect because there are no "free states" who can resist the over bloated central government. The War (Lincoln's war) was in effect - the crushing of the power of the states to assert their constitutional right to resist and remove themselves from an oppressive government that has run amuck. Like NOW! The South will Rise Again! Is not a vain glorious phrase with no meaning to us like some kind of archaic catch phrase. It is the only hope that a decent, constitutional government will ever be re-established on this continent or any other one. I truly believe that in the very near future there will be another move to reclaim the South. More and more of us are coming to realize the senselessness of voting for Democrats or Republicans because there is NO difference between the two - they are two faces on the same body and that body is the body of Alexander Hamilton. Any sane person that truly takes a look at the federal government - and its policies will see that it doesn't work. The framework that set up a "workable government" is gone because the power that kept the "big government monster" at bay, the power of the individual states is gone. WE are living to see the end of this nightmare because it must die of its own dead weight. No armed conflict will need to take place - just wait.... it will fall as all bloated federalist governments do. You can already see it coming. The talk of bankruptcy of the federal government has started. We are awash in debt that will never be repaid. If the money goes; so goes the government. The symbol of the South - the Confederate flag is not a racist flag because some racist groups have used it. It is a symbol of resistance to the tyranny of occupation. Those who curse it, revile it, and put down those who know what it stands for - are just uninformed... and ignorance cannot be argued with; it just needs to be pitied and resisted. I am descended from proud Confederate and Revolutionary War veteran stock. My family moved to western Kentucky in 1780 and we have fought and died in every war fought on and for this nation. I love my country - and by its original meaning of my "STATE." Deo Vindice Resurgam The South will Rise Again! January 2005 All rights reserved.
